Birthday’s are always super fun, and can also be a time to reflect on the past year and think about all that is to come when you are one year older! It was my birthday last month so I thought I’d share what I did to prepare for my year ahead, so you can too!
1.Write down in your journal what you learnt from the past year.
This can be anything from learning you need to sleep more (or less), to learning you need to be more patient. It’s also good to write down a few mistakes you made but don’t dwell too much on that, instead focus on what you have learnt from them!
2.Make note of what you are proud you did this past year.
This could be things that you have achieved, or something you tried that was totally outside of your comfort zone, whatever it is, it’ll be one of your highlights! This could be anything from passing your theory test to saving money.
3.Next write down a few goals and targets for the next year.
What do you want to have achieved by this time next year? Think about this carefully, and try to be realistic and specific. So for example if it is reading your bible more, what things can you do to make sure you actually read your bible more? Maybe following a bible reading plan or getting a nice devotional book!
4.Write a letter to God.
You can say anything you want. Thank Him for adding another year to your life and tell Him how you felt the year went overall, you could also tell Him any concerns or worries you may have for the upcoming year. Just pour out your heart to him. Remember “cast all your anxiety on to Him because he cares for you” – 1 Peter 5:7
5.Show your appreciation to people that have made your year wonderful!
Send them a message, give them a phone call, or if you’re feeling really cute then write them a card! It’s always good to let people you love know that you love and appreciate them.
6.Plan to do something for your birthday!
However small or big, it’s a day to celebrate your life and to thank God for everything He has done in the past year and all the adventures you will get to experience in the coming year!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY FROM ME TO YOU IN ADVANCE!
