An Interview with Elle Limebear

An Interview with Elle Limebear

We, at Girl Got Faith, just ADORE Elle Limebear.

It always feels like such a treat when we get to chat to her about all things music, life and Jesus. And that’s exactly what we got to do recently!

So, have a read, soak up Elle’s contagious joy and wisdom… and then do yourselves a favour and brighten up your day by listening to her brand-spanking-new single ‘Rest On Us’.

Hey Elle! Can you tell us a little about your brand-spanking-new single, Rest On Us-  What drew you to that song? What was it about this song that made you want to add your own joyful flavour to it?

Yesssss! I remember hearing this song for the first time and being instantly captivated and pulled in by the first verse- “As the spirit was moving over the waters, spirit come move over us” – It took me back to when I first was filled with the holy spirit at 13 years old. An encounter that has marked my life forever and that I’ll never forget.

I started to lead it at my church, and then at other churches around the world, and it felt like the song was everything I wanted to sing and declare with people- “holy spirit, come rest on us”. I was leading it so much that I thought it would be fun to have my own version and put a spin on it that I could resonate even more with! So here we have it, ha!

We’re so glad that you did! The video that you’ve released alongside is so powerful. It’s a three-minute infusion of passion, colour (I want every single one of your outfits) and joy. Why was it important for you to offer out a visual element to this single?

Oh thank you so much! I really love visuals/ music videos – anything to bring audio to life even more. And I knew that this video had to be an explosion of colour and expression. I wanted to show how the Holy Spirit doesn’t just rest on us in one particular way- that actually, he meets us all so uniquely and individually and that he definitely IS NOT boring, ha! My hope as you watch this music video that his Spirit would rest on you in a more profound and creative way than you’ve ever experienced!

 Ah, Elle- I LOVE that.

Your debut album, Lost In Wonder, is SO wonderful. Do you have a favourite song from that album that you love to lead/sing? One that always shifts the room a little?

Ah you’re so kind! Ooooh that is a toughie! I’d have to say my song Angels is always a real special moment. I can sense the presence of God so strongly whenever I sing it. It’s a true reminder that he send his angels to guard you and protect you day and night and that you’re never ever alone.
YES! OK, give us your three non-negotiables for living the most creative life possible. What things couldn’t you be you without?

  1. Don’t overthink it!! It’s so easy to do this.
  2. Go back to little you! Meaning; what did your younger self love,  admire, enjoy, be fascinated with, get inspiration from? Sometimes as adults we complicate things and get too polished but going back to our childlike self opens up a whole can of worms (in a good way ha.. good worms ?!)
  3. Letting people in! Accountability/ wise opinions from trusted people has really helped me elevate many different areas in my life. When we live more open handed for people (who love you- this is important) to speak into your life- the good & the bad, it widens your thinking & creativity!

And finaaaaaaaally, if you could go back to sweet sixteen year old Elle and tell her something, give her a little message that would help her navigate these precious years of change and adventure- what would it be?

Oh I’d say a lot but here are a few!

1. Don’t over-pluck your eyebrows.

2. Keep turning up to church and serving.

3. Jesus is your friend and a very kind one.

Ah, we just love Elle.

Go ahead and listen to her new single, Rest On Us, and then why not treat yourself to a listening party of her whole album- Lost in Wonder. Trust us, it’s a true joy-bomb of an album.
