Change is hard. It often feels more realistic to just try and “get through” than to actually be able to make it any better. But believe it or not, change can be enjoyable and it’s totally doable with grace, gratitude, and a giving attitude!
“My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.”
I’ve recently started university which has been a massive time of change in my life. When I can do things by myself or I feel comfortable, it’s harder for me to remember constant power and grace in my life. But when I feel totally unable, uncomfortable and powerless, it’s so clear that God is at work. It’s reassuring to know that it’s ok to struggle because God’s got our backs!
When your world is rocked, or your normal day to day is altered, it’s important to recognise where you are going for your peace. I often go to my friends, and whilst that’s not a bad thing and it’s great to value your friendships, I know that I need to get my peace from God. We know that God’s grace is all we need, and we can repeat the bible verse 100 times, but sometimes it takes an uncomfortable season for us to really know the truth of those words. Where does your peace come from?
Being thankful on purpose
When we are purposefully thankful for things, we remember how good God is and what He has already done, giving us hope for what He will do! Try writing three things you are thankful for each day. The things in your day that have made it better, or just basic life needs that you’re grateful to have. If a day is particularly rubbish double the things you are thankful for. Yes, DOUBLE IT! Why? Because it fixes our eyes off the rubbish and stirs faith that God can change it.
Be kind to yourself
Give yourself a break! It’s okay not to be okay straight away. That’s not abnormal so don’t be harsh on yourself. Go and do some things that you enjoy doing, watch that movie, meet friends and eat chocolate if it makes you happy!
