Everybody loves a parrrtttayyy, turn up,turn up! And with the Christmas season approaching, you may already be thinking about how you wanna celebrate (I salute you early birds).
It’s not always easy to plan a get together when you’ve got so many different elements to consider. There’s food, drinks, entertainment and depending on how much of a perfectionist you are, the to-do list can seem endless!
As a relaxed alternative to a full on party, why not host a cracking games night? Here are a few tips to help you plan your awesome night of fun.
Errrrm…we need some games of course!
Games nights are a fantastic way of breaking the ice, having some fun and bringing people together. You can keep things basic with charades, pictionary and two truths, one lie, or kick things up a notch with games like Articulate, Monopoly or Jenga.
If you’re more of a creative type, why not think up some of your own original games? Objects like balloons, pens and paper and even toilet roll are brilliant starting points for coming up with fun activities.
Create some atmosphere
Unlike conventional parties, a games night lends itself to a chilled out vibe. However, it doesn’t have to be boring at all! Why not get some balloons and pretty decorations in to get into the celebratory mood?
For a Christmas themed games night just throw in some tinsel and a few crackers! And if it’s a birthday that you’re celebrating, nothing screams party like happy birthday banners, party poppers and wacky hats!
Food for the soul
Games nights provide the perfect opportunity to cook up some delicious treats as they’re often more intimate than raging parties. They are great way to flex your cooking skills and give your guests something to look forward to!
Finger foods are ideal for events like this. Think mini pizzas, cupcakes, exotic fruit cubes and mini chicken (or vegetable) skewers. The possibilities are truly endless, so get creative in the kitchen!
Spotify is your best friend
No party would be complete without some sweet tunes. A relaxed playlist is perfect for a games night; people can chat, play and sway to the rhythm of some soulful songs. You might even choose to add some 90s throwback into the mix. I’m talking TLC, Lauryn Hill, Destiny’s Child (and everyone’s guilty pleasure…The Spice Girls!)
Grab your closest girls
A party isn’t a party without some people! A smaller gathering like a games night is a great way of showing your best buds just how much you appreciate them. Hanging with your girls in a setting like this is bound to be full of laughs, competitiveness, banter and most importantly, amazing memories.
