Five Books You Need To Read This Year

Five Books You Need To Read This Year

Reading is one of my favourite pastimes, so today I am going to sharing five of my favourite books (or book series’) that I think you will love!

The Christy Miller Series | Robin Jones Gunn

This book series follows a young woman called Christy Miller, and her journey to finding God and then getting to know Him as she navigates life. At the start of the series Christy is 14 years old and she grows up throughout the series; in the last book of the series Christy is 18 years old and starting University. This book series is great, as it tackles many issues that young women may face in their lives and walk with God. Plus, there are three extra series’ about Christy at University, getting married and having children, so there is something to follow at every stage of life.

Kisses From Katie | Katie Davis

This one is a non-fiction book in which the author, Katie, tells her story about being a missionary to Uganda when she was just eighteen years old. This story is one that will encourage you about the call God places on the lives of all of His children, and provide you with an example of what can happen when you answer the call on your life. Definitely one to read if you are thinking about missionary work, or wondering how to answer God’s call on your life.

Set-Apart Femininity: God’s Sacred Intent for Every Young Woman | Leslie Ludy

In this book author Leslie Ludy speaks to young women about living for Christ in a society that often doesn’t want to know Him, and who will ridicule anyone who does. This book tackles issues of identity, fitting-in and purpose, encouraging young women to live lives that point others to God.

The Angels Walking Series | Karen Kingsbury

This book series follows two groups of characters; a group of humans whose lives become intertwined through prayer and encounters and a group of angels who have been assigned to do God’s work on earth and help the humans find and experience God. This fiction book provides a beautiful example of what might be happening ‘behind-the-scenes’ when we pray and ask God for help.

Spoken For: Embracing who you are and whose you are | Alyssa Bethke and Robin Jones Gunn

I would say that this book is a must-read for every teenage girl. Authors Alyssa and Robin share their love stories, as well as how they encountered the truth of Jesus. This book will help you know your value to God and strengthen your identity as a woman of God. Many issues such as beauty, how to navigate romantic relationships and how to build friendships are covered in book. A book that will help you know your infinite worth.
