Have you heard of the parable of the talents?
I’ve been hearing this parable for the past week. At church, during my Bible studies and in my devotional. When that happens I know that God is definitely trying to catch my attention.
Matthew 25:14-30 talks about a master who had three servants and was about to go on a long journey. He entrusted five talents (a talent is a form of currency, like pounds or dollars!) to the first servant, two to the second and one to the third servant then he went away.
Both the first and second servants doubled the talents that they had been given however the last servant who had received one talent went away and buried his talent in the ground. After a long while, the master came back from his journey and went to settle accounts with his servants. The master was happy with the first two servants who had doubled their talents however he was disappointed with the last servant who had buried his talent in the ground, so he took it away from him and gave it to the first servant who had five talents.
I had a list of things that I wanted to accomplish in the year of 2017, some of them I achieved some of them I didn’t which is okay, but I know that if I had worked a little harder I probably could have achieved them all. Normally the first thing that stands in our way to achieve what God has planted in our hearts is fear.
In my opinion, fear is the biggest vehicle the devil tries to use in order to stop us in our tracks in reaching our full potential. Even if you don’t, he knows how much you’re worth and he knows how high you can reach which is why he tries so hard.
Ever heard of the game show Cannonball on ITV? I imagine the devil throwing all these curveballs at us as we run to the finish line. These curveballs could be fear, or pride, or lack of self-confidence, or anything else that stands in your way to prevent you from getting to that finish line.
So girls, as we are now fully into the first month of 2018 pray this prayer with me to break every vehicle and chain that is holding you back from reaching your full potential:
Heavenly Father, You have given me everything I need, everything I need is already within me. So I pray that you help me to tap into the riches you have blessed me with. Break every chain of fear, self-doubt and pride and be with me as I overcome every obstacle that life throws my way. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray, Amen.
I believe that in 2018 we will accomplish everything we have set out to do.
I believe that God has our back and has already given us everything we need in order to overcome those curveballs that life throws at us.
He is just waiting for you to be brave and put in the work.
