7 Steps To Beautiful Skin

written by Ella May 14, 2017
7 Steps To Beautiful Skin

When it comes to loving the skin you’re in, it can feel a little like an uphill battle! The huge range of products, supplements and tips can feel a little daunting, and figuring out what works and what doesn’t can take time, as everyone’s skin is different.

Here, however, are some natural remedies to help keep your skin healthy and glowing.

  1. Water

I guarantee you’ve heard this one a million times but I cannot stress enough how important it is! Drinking as much as you can (sip throughout the day) will help keep your skin clean and glowing.

  1. Moisturise

I stayed away from moisturising for ages because I thought that my skin was oily and keeping it moisturised would make my skin break out more – not true! Whatever type of skin you have, finding a fragrance-free, all natural moisturiser (I love the ones by Vaseline and Simple) is super important.

  1. Green tea steam

This feels amazing, and will help clear out those pores. Find a big mug, fill with green tea and just bathe your face in the steam, holding a tea towel over your head if you want to. The steam is really purifying and makes you feel all dewy and healthy.

  1. Potato

I know this sounds weird but go with me on this one… If you have any acne scars, cut a potato in half, make some slits in it to extract the juice and just rub that on the affected areas. The starch in it will do something (I don’t understand the science I just know it works!) and help get rid of any spots or scars.

  1. Lemon

Lemon is great for acne scars as it has properties which lighten the skin, and if you dab it on existing pimples it can also help to clean and reduce the redness on those.

  1. Cold spoons and cucumber

If you have dark circles under your eyes (I certainly do), then putting a spoon in the fridge (NOT freezer) or under cold water and placing them gently on your eyes, followed by slices of cucumber can help reduce the purpleness or any puffiness.

  1. Ice

If you spot a pimple, your first port of call should be to wrap a cube of ice in a clean cloth and hold it over the spot. This will calm it down and eventually reduce redness.

Finally, remember if you can’t obviously see a pimple or something from 5 metres away from your mirror, no one else can see it! And while going through a bad skin phase can feel really embarrassing, people aren’t going to notice half as much as you’d imagine, everyone goes through phases of acne or pimples, don’t panic and be patient.

If your skin is breaking out badly in a consistent manner, head to your GP to get some help sorting it. Ultimately, your gorgeousness and happiness will make your skin glow more than any amount of creams or cucumber!
