Whether you are approaching your GCSE’s or feeling the stress of A levels you’ll know all too well how sticking to a revision schedule can seem near impossible.
If you’re anything like me and could get an A* in procrastination, then these 5 easy tips will help keep you focused throughout the exam season!
1.Make a time table
The basics of succeeding with revision are to be disciplined and have a timetable. Work out when your exams are and then prioritise which subjects you should be focusing on and when. It can also be helpful to get yourself into a routine, so that you get used to the grind!
2.Set yourself goals
Setting yourself goals and reaching targets can be a great way to measure your success. Maybe ask your parents or a friend to test you at the end of each module or even create your own test. Something I found helpful was to print off the Unit Guide and tick off the different topics as I learnt them. This really gives you a sense of achievement as well as helping you focus on what you need to learn.
3.Take breaks
This one might seem silly for the procrastinators among us, because 95% of our allocated revision time usually turns into a ‘’break’’! Having a rest for a set period of time can really help, as it gives your brain time to relax and take in what you have learnt! Check out our De-Stress Manifesto for ways to beat the exam panic!
4.Find your style
Not everyone can learn from reading a text book. Experiment with different ways of learning, for instance watching videos on YouTube (try not to get distracted!), writing stuff out on white boards or even making up a song with actions to help you remember certain facts! There are three main types of learning; Visual, Auditory (listening) and Kinaesthetic (movement). Experiment with different ways and see what works best for you!
5.Remember the end Goal
When we are weighed down by the stress of exams it’s easy to forget about who we are and what God made us for! Always make time to pray and trust God that whatever happens His plan for your life will prevail. Despite how it may feel right now, you are more than your exams and God will make a beautiful tapestry out of your life regardless of your results!
