Create Your Own At Home Spa

written by Amy May 29, 2020
Create Your Own At Home Spa

Taking the time to look after yourself is something that should always be on the top of your to-do list, but even more so at the moment! This time has given me the opportunity to experiment with some at home beauty hacks, try some new things and properly relax. It’s great to step away from the screens and the news and focus on something that will ultimately make you feel good about yourself.

One of my favourite ways to transform my space into a spa is to play some relaxing music, think whales or crashing waves. There are lots of different playlists that you can find online or you can opt for some of your favourite calming songs. One of my favourites is an album of Disney songs played on the piano, which I found on Spotify. It’s so calming and helps me to zone out.

A great spa night for me usually includes a bubble bath – it’s the closest thing we have to a Jacuzzi at the moment! I love using time in the bath to do a facial. My favourites are a sheet mask or one that peels off, or you could even try making your own. There are lots of options that can help with a whole range of skincare concerns, so there will definitely be one out there for you. Don’t forget to cut up some cooling cucumber for your eyes to achieve the ultimate spa look.

After a relaxing soak in the bath you can treat yourself to a mani-pedi. File your nails into your desired shape and then paint them with your favourite Spring shade – I love pastels at the moment. Shades like lilac and baby pink look really good on shorter nails. I find that a couple of thin layers of colour is the best way to achieve an even, professional finish. Add a glossy top coat to lock in the colour.

Finally, and most importantly, relax! Whether you want to get stuck into your current book or watch your favourite Disney film – simply switch off and enjoy. Treat yourself to some movie snacks like popcorn or make your own ice-cream sundae.

I always find that I feel so much more refreshed after going through this little spa routine, even though it is so simple, it allows you to really unwind.

If you are feeling stressed or anxious at all, which is completely normal, then here is a bible verse that I hope will provide you with some comfort:

“Trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will direct your path” Proverbs 3: 5-6

Happy relaxing!
