Getting Rid Of Spots Has Never Been So Easy

Getting Rid Of Spots Has Never Been So Easy

Spots can be really uncomfortable and make us feel a bit down in the dumps, but unfortunately it’s a part of life that we all have to face at one point or another. Thankfully, there are a few things we can do to get rid of our unwanted face friends, and they are way simpler than you may have thought!

Change your pillow cases once a week

While you sleep, oils from your hair transfer on to your pillowcase, which we all know is a recipe for disaster for your skin. So change your pillowcases at least once a week to help keep your pores unblocked and your skin feeling fresh.

Lots of water and good food

Fruit-and-water

You are what you eat and what you put in you’ll get out! If you’re eating lots of oily and fatty foods and drinking sugary drinks this will show on your skin. We think everything should be enjoyed in moderation, so go ahead and have a chocolate bar and a juice but don’t go overboard on fried foods and fizzy drinks!

Try and spend time outside in fresh air

When your indoors the air is often air conditioned (or heated!) which can dry out your skin. Try and get a bit of fresh air every day.  Instead of taking the bus everywhere, can you walk it?

Use a soft exfoliator

Exfoliating will clear your pores and go a bit deeper than just rinsing your face with water. But the trick is to not over exfoliate as this can damage your skin even more. We suggest you stick with 2 or 3 times a week! This St Ives Apricot Scrub is specifically for fighting blemishes and is a steal at just £3.99 from most supermarkets and pharmacies.

Remove your makeup properly every night. No facewipes

Facewipes tend to be alcohol based so are very harsh on your skin. Try using a more gentle makeup remover like a lotion applied to some cotton wool pads and this should make your skin softer and clearer in no time.

Oil free foundation

When we get spots we tend to apply layers of thick foundation with the hope of covering the red pimples, but this is a vicious cycle which generally leads to more spots! Try a lighter, oil free foundation. Bare Minerals have some great options for all different skin types.

If it’s really bad, consult your doctor.

Did you know that you can see your doctor about having spots? Most people don’t realise this and spend years on different treatments that aren’t right for them whereas your doctor could prescribe you something like Tetrasyl that you take once a day for two weeks and you’re on your way to spot free skin! If your acne is more severe you could be referred to a dermatologist, who again will have treatments that are perfect for you.
