Sometimes I feel like I need to wait for the perfect time, the perfect feeling and the perfect atmosphere to pray, when in reality it is not so.
It’s impossible to ‘feel’ on point 24/7. We go through different emotions, feelings and seasons in our life that can impact our prayer life. Sometimes it’s hard to feel God’s presence near, and sometimes your schedule or where you live doesn’t even allow you to be by yourself to pray.
I’ve got news for you….You don’t need to wait for the perfect time, the perfect aura, the perfect feeling, the perfect season to pray, just come as you are.
I like to think of Prayer as a constant form of communication with God no matter what! It’s like talking to my best friend, I crack jokes with Him, I speak to him in slang sometimes and I just let it all out.
If you can’t be real with God, the Father Almighty who already knows your heart, your mind, your everything then who can you really be real with?
Two Bible verses that come to mind regarding prayer are:
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Ephesians 6:18: “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.”
Remember that God “delights in every detail of your life” – Psalm 37:23. He will never find you boring or uninteresting, He wants to know everything about you, so invite Him in.
You can pray to God anywhere and it doesn’t have to be a long-winded prayer, even just whispering “Lord I need your help right now because I just cannot deal with this person/situation” or “Lord thank you for providing for me today” goes a long way.
Praying doesn’t mean you need to shut yourself in a room for hours on end (although time alone spent in His presence is important). It is also important to pray continuously, which plays out in the small actions we do each day.
Your life is a prayer.
