[4c hair is described as ‘kinky’ or ‘coily’ hair. It is a common hair type found in people who are from African descent. Although 4c hair seems to be coarse hair-type it is actually the most fragile because of the coils and kinks in the hair strand].
Got that thick, silky, luscious hair going? Edges all full and flourishing? Yet still stuck on the same 5 inches of hair for like 3 years?
I feel your pain girl. Although health over length is much more important, I do want it to grow longer than my chin, lol. So if you’re in the same situation as me, I have some helpful tips to share.
DISCLAIMER: I am in no way a hairdresser or a hair specialist I am merely sharing the experiences I had and what worked for my hair.
#Tip 1: Diet
I think this is the most important tip. Hair is made up of a tough protein called Keratin. So eating a balanced diet that includes protein should help and promote the strength and therefore retain the length of your hair!
#Tip 2: Trim your hair
I know the whole point of this post is to retain length and not chop it off but although trimming your hair doesn’t have a direct impact on how long your hair is, it does protect it from further split-end damage, breakage and flyaways.
#Tip3: Steam your hair
I love steaming my hair after I wash it! Not only is it relaxing but it’s also got it’s benefits too! The moist heat during steaming encourages blood flow to circulate which promotes hair growth, which therefore means longer hair, it’s a win, win!
I hope these tips help and if you have any extra ideas on how to retain length share them with us!
