Savouring Memories

written by Amy March 25, 2018
Savouring Memories

Lots of people are guilty of being glued to their phones and who can blame them- when a world of Buzzfeed quizzes and pictures of Ryan Gosling holding puppies is waiting at their fingertips! Getting sucked into scrolling endlessly on social media is simple, but living in the moment and immersing yourself entirely in your surroundings can be more challenging in the modern day. By completely indulging in the moment yourself, without the hindrance of your phone, you will be able to completely savour your memories.

There are lots of great ways to do this that will keep them safe forever, without them getting lost somewhere on ‘the cloud’! Memory boxes are a great place to start and fairly simple too. You could choose to go for a theme such as a certain item you want to collect like pin-badges or postcards. These little collectibles from all your trips will become keepsakes and will hold your memories for a lifetime. If the particular occasion doesn’t contain a gift shop then you could just pick up your own souvenirs- a blade of grass from the football pitch, some confetti from your recent gig or simply the receipt from a dinner with your besties! The possibilities are endless and keeping them safe in a pretty box, makes it all the more enjoyable.

Photo albums are a great alternative to savouring those memories too. It gives you the opportunity to try out a new skill too… depending on what style you want to go for. You could opt for saving all those hilarious snapchat selfies with the filters that you took with your Mum or go more artsy on the walk to school- it’s entirely up to you! If you’re a creative person then a photo album is a really enjoyable way to save your photos that will last generations without fear of being wiped with the next iOS update!

Scrapbooking is my favourite way to savour memories as it is the perfect blend of a memory box and photo albums. They can be extremely personal and creative, giving you the freedom to save the memories you want to cherish. You will be able to indulge in stickers, washi tape and glitter pens too- a definite bonus! They’re perfectly filled with nostalgia and will you will be able to treasure them for a lifetime. It may be fun to keep one of a specific summer, holiday or even a joint one with your BFF to record all your favourite memories.

Savouring memories is so important, especially in the busyness of everyday life with school and social media pressures. So taking some time out to scrapbook, practice photography or build up your memory box will be the perfect way to de-stress. It is a lovely way to ‘Give thanks to the Lord for he is good’ (Psalm 106:1) and celebrate the wonderful moments in life he has blessed upon us.
