She Totally Rocks

written by Jess Whitley December 21, 2017
She Totally Rocks

At Girl Got Faith we love encouraging you to use your God given gifts and make dreams a reality. So let us introduce to you the inspirational Emma Rock who shares our belief that it is possible to achieve positive and lasting change by designing a life that you love.

Emma is founder of Oh Snap Photography, which is based in Northern Ireland. Emma is amazing at doing what she loves. She also loves connecting people, styling and interior design (and yes, her instagram is just gorgeous!)

The moment I sat down with a coffee and chatted to Emma I knew it was just the beginning of a great friendship!

So tell us a little about yourself?

I’m Emma! I’m 22 years old and I am a lover of Jesus! I have just graduated from my Psychology degree in July past. I am also just recently married to the guy of my dreams in September so as you can imagine, it has been a pretty busy, but pretty amazing year! I currently run my own photography business which is actually 4 years old today! I am a lover of minimalism, olive green, oversized hoop earrings and my heart is very much for people and their wellbeing.

How did you get into photography?

In my 2nd year of university I went on a trip to Uganda which ignited my love for photography in a whole new way. I have always had a camera in my hand but I think the realisation that sometimes I could say something more with an image than with words blew my mind. The business started off in my friends living room when she had just had her little girl. She encouraged me to start a Facebook page and reluctantly I did. At that time I wasn’t the most self-confidant of girls but a little spark of bravery allowed this little thought to become reality.

Was does a typical day look like for you?

I have never been a girl who enjoyed routine. I seem to thrive best in the unknown days so photography suited me to the ground! My days look so different every day but they mainly contain a quiet time with God, editing, replying to emails, meeting (which generally include coffee, yay!) and watching neighbours with Simon. Evenings can also look different, between making dinner, some more editing and the odd consultation I have pretty fast paced days which I love!

How would you describe your style in 3 words?

Raw, emotional (the good kind) and natural…can I have a fourth? Fun!

How does your faith influence your work?

My faith influences every single part of my work. I am empowered by the love of Christ and because of that, and only that, I can be exactly who He has called me to be. I believe that my faith allows me to have a unique and more in-depth connection with my clients and in my everyday life, with every person I meet I get to love them like Jesus does. Without God, I don’t think my work would exist how it does today. I am just so thankful that I have been blessed with a career that I love, and I only have God to thank for that! I don’t have to rely on my own strength but on His.

What 3 things do you love about Christmas?

I love family, giving gifts, and Christmas dinner crammed around the table!

What beauty product could you not live without?

Ohh, that would have to be liquid eyeliner. Wings are my signature!

Any hidden talents?

Ummm, is sarcasm a talent?! Joking.

What things are you excited about for 2018?

Im excited about the prospect of new things and new opportunities. I have some dreams that I am working on to make reality and I hope that in 2018 some of them will come true! I am excited to see what God has in store for ohsnap and I’m excited about the people that I am going to come into contact with! I am also excited to fall in love with my husband some more because every day with him gets better and better (hold out for your prince girls! Its worth it, I promise!)
