SUMMER IS HERE! It’s time for the ‘fun stuff’ – holidays, BBQ’s, road trips, conferences, sleepovers, walks and relaxation! It’s that time of year when Summer takes us out of our normal routine. For the most part this is fun and exciting, but it can also mean it’s that much harder to keep up with daily bible reading or going to church.
In this article, I am going to share with you my top tips for keeping up with bible reading during the Summer!
- Download a Bible App and a Daily Devotional App on your phone!
This is my absolute best piece of advice for helping make sure you can read your bible when you are away on holiday. Bibles are often too heavy to pack, or you end up not wanting to risk them being damaged by cramming them into your suitcase. There are so many bible apps you can download, along with some great devotional apps such as ‘She reads truth’. Many will even give you notifications to remind you to do your reading for that day!
- Start a new routine that works with your Summer plans!
Sometimes we make it harder for ourselves by trying to carry on with our ‘normal’ bible reading routine during the Summer. For example, when you’re at school you might read your bible in the evening when you get home or before you go to bed, but that might be harder to stick to during summer since you are more likely to have plans in the evenings. The best thing to do is start a new bible routine for the Summer that will be easier to keep to with your fun-filled plans.
- Find a couple of great Christian books for your Summer reading!
Whether you read while you’re away on holiday, or just for fun to relax, there are some great Christian books that will really encourage you in your faith – and that will remind you to keep reading your bible!
- Join or start a Summer Bible Study!
It is always easier to keep on reading your bible when you have friends around you to help! It is likely your church will have some sort of small group going on over the summer, but if not, you and your friends can always start one!
- Put things in perspective!
Amongst all the fun that summer can bring, it is so important that you keep lifting your eyes to God and thank Him for all the good times! Remember that while summer plans are exciting, they are only temporary and it is your relationship with God that is eternal. It is definitely worth planning time with Him into your week.
