One of the great blessings I have found as a Christian, is the Father’s promises to me. The bible is full of promises from God to us: that He has plans for us that contain hope & future (Jeremiah 29:11), that He can do the impossible for us (Luke 18:27) and to give us the desires of our hearts when we take delight in Him (Psalm 37:4), I could go on! And if that wasn’t enough, God gives more promises that are just between Him and you.
We live in an instant kind of world nowadays, we’re so used to receiving posts, messages, deliveries & answers quickly rather than waiting. Can you remember the last time you had to wait for something like exam results or a letter? It can be a test of patience to wait for something!
In May this year, a lovely couple who are a part of my church spent some time with me in prayer. They spoke about the things they felt God wanted to say about and for me. They were amazing things! It felt like God knew me in a way that no one could ever know, speaking into my hopes, dreams, desires and passions, He made so many new and exciting promises to me that day, it felt incredible!
Fast forward to (almost!) the end of this year. Not all of those promises have come to pass yet. Honestly speaking, at times I have been frustrated; when would I see these exciting things in my life? Were they meant for 2016? Would God tell me when He was going to make these happen? In this season of waiting on God’s promises, I wanted to share some encouragement to any of you ladies who are living and waiting on a promise.
What stands out to you in that quote: the word His? Timing? The word that stands out for me is “Perfect”. God knows the perfect moment for His promises to come to fruition. I mean, after all, He is the creator of time! Ecclesiastes 3 starts off by saying “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens”, it goes on to name different activities that we will encounter in life, each with the phrase “a time”.
God knows your life, from start to end, He knows the exact time for His promises to work out.
When we’re holding out for God to bring us the blessings He promises, it can be challenging. There have been times this year when I have been disappointed, frustrated or angry with God because I know He has promised me things but I haven’t seen them yet.
Sometimes when we feel these things, it can put a distance between us and God, but I really encourage you to give these thoughts and emotions over to Him (He’s a big God to take it all!).
Come to Him in prayer, tell Him how you are doing, listen to His response, be curious to what’s going on and what He’s trying to show you.
King David poured out his heart to God through the Psalms, conveying his frustration to the Lord.
A great part in the bible which sums up what difficult seasons do for us is this:
“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems & trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and our character strengthens our confident hope of salvation” Romans 5: 3-5 (NLT)
My prayer is, that whilst you are waiting on God’s promises to become a reality for you, you draw closer to Him, your faith is deepened and strengthened and when God’s perfect timing comes around, you will know it was worth the wait!

This has really helped me. I’ve been feeling a bit stressed and down about a levels but this week I received my first offer from a university and an old friend got in contact with me, both are truly blessings from God. This has helped me to see in the future that God has a plan for me and even if I’m struggling to see that plan that I should know that He’s got my back always! Thank you
