This world can be a cruel cruel place and it’s doesn’t look like it’s gonna get better anytime soon. We have to put up with all sorts these days; people taking things and not saying thank you, or those folks that like to push in to queues for no apparent reason.
Yes, the planet has many meanies, but there are a select few who understand the importance of always being kind. These admirable super humans make it their mission to inject as much niceness into the world as is physically possible. Here are five things that you’ll understand if you’re one of those ridiculously nice people.
-
You always hold the door open for people.
This is non-negotiable. Who knows when a little old lady will come shuffling along and need someone to hold the door open for her? Yes, often it’s not an old lady but a flurry of about a hundred people who are perfectly capable of holding doors open. But it doesn’t matter. Because you’re a nice person. You hold that door open for as long as it takes and you do it with pride.
-
The word ‘no’ is never an option.
Whoever invented that word is clearly a horrible person. It’s difficult to bring yourself to even think it. Anything that anyone wants done is something that you’ll be perfectly happy to take on, it doesn’t matter if you know what you’re doing or not. You’ll learn. Because that’s what nice people do.
-
Even if someone else is in the wrong, it’s still only right that you say sorry. That may occasionally include apologising to objects.
Yep, the blame may indeed lie with someone else, but you were still involved and therefore you’re perfectly happy saying sorry. And lampposts always deserve an apology; they clearly don’t want to be in the way, they just are.
-
You show full appreciation for every single gift EVER received.
It’s wide spread knowledge that people spend hours upon hours selecting presents, so it’s important to be excited about them all. There is no gift hierarchy, all are the same in your eyes. And those soap sets are truly a God send! One of those days when the shower gel is running low, you’re sorted! See. All gifts deserve upmost respect.
-
Asking others if they’re ok is at the top of your list because the wellbeing of your fellow humans is paramount.
It doesn’t matter if you’re feeling under the weather or you’re stuck down a hole, you know full well that it’s not about you. You need to be sure that everyone else is alright, because that’s what nice people do.

Hi! I love this article. I think one of my favorite things is your bio at the bottom: “…loves eating food (especially sweets!), being creative and spreading joy to the people around her.”
You and me both, sister!
