For I Know The Plans I Have For You

written by Esther Egbeyemi July 22, 2016
For I Know The Plans I Have For You

Purpose. That’s a pretty big word right? The Oxford dictionary defines it as:

‘The reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.’

When we begin to think about our own purpose, it can be super overwhelming. It’s not every day that we take the time to think about why we actually exist!

Growing up, I really struggled with the concept of purpose. Whilst the people around me seemed to have it all figured out with plenty of aspiring doctors and lawyers and others looking to be the next Beyoncé, I didn’t even know what I wanted to take for my GCSEs!

For a long time, I felt like I was just floating aimlessly through life. In preparing to write this post, I was looking through some old journals and came across a letter I wrote to God about this very topic. I thought that it’d be quite fitting to include a little excerpt:

“I feel kind of lost. I don’t really know what the purpose of my life is right now. I don’t need to or desire to see the whole picture, but I feel like I’m making no progress towards achieving any real goal that you have for my life.”

I felt really sad reading it! Partly because my mindset has changed so drastically since then, but mainly because there will be so many of you amazing young woman who are feeling the same way. I just wanted to remind you of a very simple truth that applies to every single one of God’s children. It comes from the book of Jeremiah and says:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

I just can’t get enough of this verse. It’s packed with so much truth, so much assurance and it makes me incredibly excited!

planyana

This verse is God talking to you as His precious child. Just imagine this for a minute. God is telling you that He has a unique, specific, amazing plan for your life. God wants to see you flourish and live a life where you are using all the gifts, talents and passions that He has placed within you to change the world and bring glory to His name.

He promises that He will protect you and has planned great things not only for your present, but also your future. It’s crazy!!! Yes, the journey may be tough and things may seem kinda hazy right now, but bit by bit, God will reveal more and more of the big picture. Trust Him.

Next time you’re feeling like you have no purpose, please remind yourself of this verse and know that you can depend on it wholeheartedly. Your future is going to be insanely amazing and I’m confident that you’re going to achieve great things for God.

Ladies, there’s a lot to be said “About God” I read your posts and I tell you the truth you’re mighty women of God! Keep your Faith and your eyes stayed on Jesus! Continue to stay in the Word of God and feed that Spirit, Mind, Soul & Body everyday! His Word is sharper than a two edged sword! But from where I stand you are His and He is Yours and He will never leave you or forsake you! And that’s the God of Heaven! I tell you the Truth in Jesus name! Amen! May the Good Lord Bless and keep you All in his care in Jesus mighty matchless name! Amen!
And remember who you are in Christ and all what “He Means to You” everyday!

Matthew 17:20, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you”.
New International Version
6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
