How To Be A Secret Agent

written by Esther Andrews June 21, 2016
How To Be A Secret Agent

Fancy being a spy? A rebel spy, secretly masterminding a bundle of secret ops and covert missions? Plus, at the end of all your work, the rewards will be sweet.

And here’s the best bit: no need to apply! Because God made you…well, a YOU, all the skills and talents and power you’ll need are already yours. Score!

You could be a secret agent with an awesome smugglers op taking place on the side. Smuggle your classmates away from their bullies at lunch break, maybe?

Or you could be a mystery admirer. Anonymously buy an underappreciated person a gift, or write them a letter saying what a great job they’re doing.

You could go undercover, befriending those who are totally different to you and telling them about Jesus.

You could be a spy for God in your neighbourhood, finding the hidden beauty in everyone and everything you see. Afterwards, give Him a praise report about the suprising blessings you find!

You could rebel against the social order and smile at that person that other people just don’t like.smiledThe idea of being a secret agent works pretty well for me. It means that whatever I’m doing and wherever I am, I’m not just a part of the scenery! I am a vibrant and highly qualified agent of all the tiny acts of God that are taking place around me. Because God doesn’t only work through ‘superpastors’ or jaw dropping miracles. If you went out of your way to be even a tiny little bit kinder today, your heavenly Dad is pleased  with that.

I’m not saying be secretive about your faith. Don’t hide it! Never be ashamed to say you’re a Christian. But that word ‘evangelism’ can be so scary and, to be honest, it used to make me want to hide under my duvet!

All I’m suggesting is: think creatively. Have fun with telling people about this amazing God you know! His heart is for you to impact the world around you with your God-given, unique character.

Have fun!
