Have you ever imagined what it will be like in heaven and if so what comes to mind?
Whenever I think of heaven the first thing I imagine is praise and worship because I love worshipping God and I always imagine the kind of worship described by John in the book of Revelation 4:10-11 – the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne saying: “You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for you created all things, and by your will they exist and were created”.
How amazing is that!
Praise and worship is such a pivotal part of our lives and we were created to worship but what we worship is what is important.
Praise by definition is to express warm approval or admiration and worship is to show reverence and adoration for (a deity). So when we praise and worship it should be directed to God. We should not worship anything but our worship should be to the one who is worthy as shown in Revelation 4 and 5.
When we worship we are giving the adoration and reverence to God that is due to Him and we show how much we love Him. Our main focus when praising and worshipping God is to draw near to God and get that glimpse of heaven on earth and what our eternity will be filled with, eternal worship.
Praise and worship is a powerful tool because when you are in a situation and you do not know what to do, a lot of times if you start praising God or worshipping you have a sense of peace immediately and the situation might not have changed yet but by choosing to praise Him in advance you are already celebrating your victory.
I have also learnt a lot of scripture through song. We are blessed to live in a generation with some of the most anointed song writers using their gift for God’s glory. A lot of times I am listening to songs and singing along and then somewhere down the line I will read that line in the word and realise I have learnt a new scripture through praise and worship.
Praise and worship can also encourage someone, how many times have you walked into church and you hear a song that lifts your spirit there and then. Or receive a text message with a song recommendation and it’s right on time!
I encourage you to get to know God and spend time with God through praise and worship and I hope you enjoy the music videos throughout this post!

Hi there! This blog post couldn’t be written much better! Looking through this post reminds me of my previous roommate!
He continually kept preaching about this.
I will send this post to him. Fairly certain he will have a very good
read. I appreciate you for sharing!
We were created to Worship! Praise and Worship is my favorite part of church. Not only does it prepare you for the word (like a great starter before the main course), but I love that even in the absence of a sermon, you can meet God through Worship.
I love you Laina. Great post! I look forward to the next one:)
xoxo
