Mercy

written by Rebekah January 24, 2016
Mercy

I’ll be honest, I often reflect on how flawed I am as a person and recently I said this in a conversation that I had with a very wise friend who told me straight, thinking about how flawed I am regularly isn’t something that I should meditate on all of the time.

Now don’t be mistaken, there is nothing wrong with self-reflection, it can be a very positive thing especially when you do it the encouraging way that you see growth in yourself, increased maturity, wisdom and everything else that comes with positive self-reflection. I’m talking about when you straight-up fail to see the great things about yourself and only ponder on the things that make you ‘humanly flawed.’

My wonderfully wise friend reminded me that daily – as it says in Lamentations 3:22-23 ‘God’s Mercies are new each morning’ and despite my flaws, insecurities and my weaknesses ‘the steadfast love of Lord never ceases and they never come to an end’ – can I get an AMEN!

I mean how craaazy is that?! That despite everything, God never ceases to love you and chooses to be merciful to you everyday?!

I want to encourage you all, that the mercy of God – whilst it is so hard to comprehend, is available to you all. of. the. time. I also want to stress that whilst the mercy of God is always ready and is so so precious, it is important not to take it for granted, or use it as an excuse to carry on behaviours that we know we shouldn’t be doing or dwelling on; but to treasure it and display it to all who are around us.
