Guvna B’s Seven Secrets

written by Emma December 10, 2015
Guvna B’s Seven Secrets

Guvna B has recently released a new album, Secret World. It is the number 1 Christian & Gospel album and number 18 UK Urban Album in the Official Charts. It was also the ONLY album in the UK top 40 albums to not have the explicit rating. Woah!

With upcoming gigs and tours, and planning for his headline show in London, Secret World Live, Guvna B is now a very busy man. But Girl Got Faith had the opportunity to chat with him, and we managed to find out seven secrets from the UK rapper to share with you…

What’s your favourite song on the album and why?

My favourite song on the album changes all the time but at the moment it’s Easy Road. It’s all about how life gets tough and the easy thing to do can be to give up, but you don’t gain anything from that. You have to try to not take the Easy Road, keep your head up and find faith to keep going.

We like that! In some of your songs you talk about how you used to try and be cool and rap about money, or girls but it never really worked out for you…Have you ever used a cheesy chat up line?

Not really, I’ve just said stupid stuff. Like ‘Hey, what drink is that? Lemonade? Oh cool.” *awkward silence*

Lol, major awks! Christmas is just around the corner, what’s the worst gift you ever bought someone?

I got my brother some Adidas trainers once. They were mine though. I’d had them for about a year.

That’s totally NOT acceptable! Okay, time to redeem yourself with some good music taste…If you want to dance around the room, what would you play?

It would probably be a Kirk Franklin album or some Grime music…probably Kano. Those two are complete opposites but they both get the job done.

Good choice! We know you love music, but if you weren’t a rapper, what would you be?

I’d probably be a teacher or work in marketing. I love working with young people and I love marketing.

You would be the best teacher ever! Now for a random one, have you ever worn makeup?

Haha yeah I have, a few times. I’ve done a couple of music videos and TV appearances where they said I had to. It takes so much time to do…don’t know how people do that everyday. Sooo much effort!

Our final secret from you has got to be a useful one, so what is your top secret for anyone wanting to break in to the music industry?

My top secret is to be yourself. The music industry doesn’t need another Guvna B, Kirk Franklin, Taylor swift, Justin Bieber or anyone else, because they’re taken. Everyone is unique and authentic so be true to yourself and work your socks off rather than copying another person’s style.

Well, after all those secrets we are even more excited to see Guvna B at Secret World Live on 2nd Jan. You can grab your tickets here. In the meantime we’ll be dancing around with the album on full blast!

For more from Guvna B you can follow him on all social media @GuvnaB and don’t forget to buy or download your copy of Secret World on ITunes and Amazon, or at a HMV near you.

We’ll leave you with the brand new music video for one of the singles from Secret World, Remember Me.
