Grow Your Own Confidence

written by Jess April 10, 2016
Grow Your Own Confidence

Confidence. You’ve either got it or not, right? The kind of thing that ‘those type of people’ have, or you had it before but it kind of came over you for a bit then disappeared.

We always say things like “she just needs a little bit more confidence” and “I don’t think I’m confident enough to do that” but instead of feeling confident, what if it was something you grow? Something you could take care of, get better at and control?

Here’s some ideas on how to grow your own healthy and organic confidence, rather than all the fake stuff….

Number 1. Do What You Love

If you enjoy what you do in your day, you won’t have to pretend that you enjoy what you do in your day. Focusing on what you love and care about means you don’t have space to worry about what people are thinking. Give your attention to the things you love and your passion will naturally let your confidence glow.

Number 2. Have A Mantra

Whether it’s scripture, an inspirational quote or one of those Beyoncé anthems, having a personal mantra is the perfect way to strengthen up a positive attitude. It’s impossible to think two things at the same time, so when one of those negative

‘I can’t’ lies creep into your mind, shoot it down with your confidence mantra.

Number 3. Just Take The First Step

There’s stuff we’d all like to do, wish we could do, been thinking about for a while but been to chicken to do… Well instead of over obsessing in your head about how huge something is it or what may or may not happen if you try, why not just take a few little steps. Whether it’s buying a notepad to scribble down your ideas or making a phone call to go for a coffee and a chat, doing the first next thing means you are putting together those confidence building blocks.

Number 4. Feel Good

Without becoming obsessed about how we look, it’s important to feel nice. Doesn’t have to be expensive but putting some love into your style is a great way to remind yourself that you’re worth the love. There’s nothing like a pair of sparkly pumps to tell you that natural confidence is around the corner.

Number 5. Think Twice

‘I can’t because she’s better then me’ is one of the biggest lies ever, but us girls fall for that trick so many times. Listen. Firstly, there will never be another you who does what you do the way that you do, so it’s actually impossible to make an accurate comparison. Secondly, every single person on this planet has doubts, worries and fears. Assuming that someone else’s confidence comes easy is silly. You don’t know their story so stop imagining it.

And look, spring is on its way, happy growing lovelies!
