Hair stylist, Mary Mumford, taught us how to DIY three quick, easy and gorgeous hair trends…Perfect for if you’re in a rush getting ready for school!
Tousled Beachy hair
This gorgeous beachy hair is super easy to achieve and perfect if you have to get up early the next day (or you need an extra 10 minutes in bed), and you don’t need to have super long locks for this style, it looks amazing with shorter hair too.
To get the best result prepare your hair the evening before. Wash and blast dry your hair with the hairdryer, you can leave it a little bit damp, but try to get it mostly dry. Before your hair cools down do a very loose plait* (or two if your hair is very thick). To get a more messy finish, tease different pieces out, this will make it look more natural.
It is best to sleep with your hair in the plait to make sure it sets in this shape.
In the morning undo the plait, shake it out and your hair will be ready to go!
Knotted Half Up Bun
One of the easiest hairstyle EVER! This will take five minutes and look pretty even if its a bit messy.
Grab a section of hair from the top of each ear to the back of your head. To get a knotted effect, take the hair you have sectioned and split it in two. Tie these two into a knot or possibly two if your hair is long enough. Secure this either with a few hair pins or a small hairband.
Sleek Side Braid
Pull all your hair over to whatever side you would like the side braid to be on.
Part your hair into two sections one on top of the other. Split the top section into three and begin to braid.
When you have taken the right and left sides each over once, grab a third of the underneath section and add it into either the left or right side (whichever side you are next crossing over the middle), then cross this side to the middle as normal. Do this again two more times adding in the rest of the underneath section to the braid as you go. When it has all been added continue the braid as normal and when you get to the end use a small band to secure it. Cant find any small hairbands? A spare loom band makes a great replacement.
*HOW TO PLAIT/BRAID: Divide hair into three equal sections. Hold right section in right hand, left section in left hand, and middle section between thumb and another finger of either hand. To begin braid, cross right section over middle section, then repeat this move with left section, smoothing hair down as you go.
