What Are You Saying?

What Are You Saying?

‘The words of the reckless pierce like swords,
but the tongue of the wise brings healing.’ – Proverbs 12:18

Did you know that women speak on average around 20,000 words a day? That is a lot of words! We can talk and talk but what are we actually saying?
Words are a gift, the ability to speak comes with responsibility but sometimes we lose sight of the power in which comes with speaking. Our words have the ability to destroy or build, to dampen or to encourage. We have to be a generation in which chooses to uplift with our words to speak life into every situation or circumstance.

In proverbs 12 it speaks about making choices with our words. We can be reckless and hurt someone without even intending to. We must begin to asses what is coming out of our mouths, even when we speak negatively about ourselves we are tearing apart the beautiful creation in which God made so specifically and uniquely.

We have to be our own best friends sometimes and affirm ourselves. Tell ourselves that we are beautiful, that we are loved and never alone. Then pass on that message to everyone around us, there are other girls that need to hear how amazing they are. Words can heal.

Gossip is something which has the ability to destroy our communities. When we speak recklessly about someone or a situation we are feeding the ability our words have to damage. There is a huge culture for gossip not just among girls but in schools, at work even in church!

There is a need in the kingdom culture for us to step out of the habitual gossip and say no. We do not have the right to speak death but we have the power to love and to encourage with what we say. Let’s build people with words of truth and light; God needs us to be girls who speak life.

Becoming more like Jesus means watching every word that passes our lips and asking ourselves ‘is this right? Does this hold goodness? How can I bring God’s light into this conversation?’

We have the power to be strong in our say, to change this nation word by word. Loving and uplifting everyone who crosses our path. Let’s begin to be the girls who heal with our words.
