Decorating Your Crowning Glory

written by Natasha December 7, 2017
Decorating Your Crowning Glory

We sometimes refer to our hair as our ‘crowning glory’ and what better way to celebrate them with decoration! This fun activity is for all hair types.

What you will need:

Decorating with beads

Step 1: Grab any bead and slide it through the braid. The bead can be situated right at the bottom, at the top or in the middle of the braid, totally up to you!

Step 2: To secure the bead grab one of your elastic bands and tie it underneath the bead so that it doesn’t slide out.

Step 3: Continue to repeat step 1 and 2 to as many braids as you like!

Decorating with jewellery

Step 1: Grab any loose jewellery you have, it could be from a broken necklace or bracelet or even an odd earring, just make sure it has a loop at the top.

Step 2: Slide it in any braid. Most jewelleries won’t need the elastic band to secure it but use it if you feel it needs to be more secure.

Step 3: Repeat Step 1 and 2 to as many braids as possible!

Decorating with string/wool

Step 1: Grab your coloured string or wool and tie it around your braid so that you have two loose ends hanging.

Step 2: Keep wrapping the wool/string in a criss-cross fashion until it runs out.

Step 3: Make a knot at the end of the string/wool so it doesn’t come out.

Step 4: Repeat Step 1-3 to as many braids as you desire!

And that’s it! Easy, simple and super cool. Tag us with your creations with the hashtag, #crowninglorywithGGF.

Make sure you find out if you are allowed to take your decorated braids to school and if not use it for the weekends and upcoming festive season!
