Embracing The Quiet Season

written by Mutsa July 15, 2016
Embracing The Quiet Season

I love spring! I love seeing the pretty flowers bloom and I love the feeling of new beginnings that comes with it.

I’m sure you have your own preferences when it comes to seasons. It says in Ecclesiastes 3 verse 1 that there is a season for everything. In our walk with God, some seasons are more frustrating than others, especially the one I like to call the ‘Quiet Season’. However, I believe that we can find joy and peace in this season if we choose to embrace it.

Maybe at the moment your life seems small, your circle of friends seems small and it seems like there isn’t much going on. Maybe you feel as though you are lonely and stuck in the ‘same old same old’. You look around and other people seem to be living fuller lives than you.

This sort of season can be frustrating if you have big dreams and desires on your heart. But don’t worry, there is a reason for the season!

God values our relationship with Him. He wants us to get to know Him well, because He is so in love with us. This could mean spending some time reading our bibles,  listening to music that draws us closer to him and everything else that helps us know him more.7cb6ba98d6f2305829fa7a8b52d65e16

The quiet season is God’s invitation for us to spend time with him. How beautiful is that! Let God love you, teach you, heal you and equip you.

When it seems like there isn’t much happening on the outside, that’s when God is doing his most work on the inside of us! We see examples in the bible of how God uses this as training time!

Before he became king, David was just a faithful Shepard boy. His life probably appeared so small. His brothers on the other hand were out and about, fighting in King Saul’s army. No one would have guessed that God was preparing DAVID to be the next King!

When David’s season changed and the time came for him to go to battle, he was well prepared and his heart was in the right place, he was able to defeat Goliath with just a stone and a sling! [1 Samuel 17]

So, if you find yourself in this season, embrace it. Let God do his beautiful work in you. Don’t strive for relationships that aren’t quite there or stress yourself trying to make things happen before their time. Be faithful with the little. Get to know yourself a little better and don’t forget to write down your dreams!

My moment of silence continues, but I’m learning from the Silence, trying to hear God more easily. More focused on understanding his word. David is the perfect example of a moment of silence. Thank you. Amen

Wow, I felt like this was a love letter from my Heavenly Father delivered to me at just the right time and season to hear. Everything for a reason and in His timing.
